PPS is a kind of polymer material with excellent properties which is widely used. At present, the cost of PPS raw material is still high and the market demand is increasing. The purpose of this paper is to explore the possibility of PPS waste secondary use. Polyphenylene sulfide(PPS) waste generated in the spinning production was determined and compared to PPS new material in the processing performance of rheological behavior, thermal properties and mechanical properties so that the possibility of PPS waste secondary use could be explored.Both drying and spinning of the spinning process belong to heat treatment which were in varying degrees so that the effect of heat treatment on PPS was explored at the first. The heat treatment of PPS was carried out by different time, different temperature and times. Then the properties of thermal performance, flow behavior and chemical structure were compared to PPS new material. The results showed that heat treatment could not affect the thermal stability of PPS in a certain extent. With the increase of heat treatment time and temperature, the flow properties of PPS was slightly improved. While compared to PPS new material, thermal performace of the PPS dry waste and melting waste were no obvious change. In the rheological properties, the melting of PPS waste was occurred once more heating process, so the viscosity decreased. This directly affected the performace of PPS spinning properties which fiber winding was difficult and fiber strength was weaken. However, the spinning process of PPS dry waste was still good and the fiber winding speed could reach 900m/min. Although the fiber strengh was slightely lower than PPS fiber, it did not affect its normal use. The melt spinning fiber of PPS waste had good thermal stability and corrosion resistance. Filling in PPS waste with some proportion of PPS new materials could inprove the rheogoical properties and the spinning performance. When the proportion of PPS chip reached 50%, the strengh of the melt spun fiber was incresed by 40%.Results of structure and properties analysis for PPS air filter bag showed PPS has occurred in the oxidative degradation which air resistance value increased greatly after filter bag used. The adsorption of smoke dust and impurity was difficult to remove through ordinary washing method. The recycling of PPS waste filter bag was difficult.
