Gas holder is cylinder storage structure. As well known, wind-induced vibration not only causes great damage on gas holder, but also induces gas leakage which is detrimental for structural analysis. At present, study of TMD has become mature gradually, and has been widely applied in architecture structure area. In this paper, based on full understanding to the TMD damping principle, vibration control of TMD applied to a large gas holder is studied, which provides some theoretical references for the industrial design of vibration reduction of gas holder.This paper provides appropriate installment form and its corresponding parameters based on current applications of TMD and its vibration reduction mechanism of single degree of freedom, and the parameters are optimized; The calculation formula of mean wind and random wind are presented, meanwhile, with mathematical software MATLAB, the time history curves of random wind load are simulated and plotted; In this study, finite element software ABAQUS is employed to ascertain gas holder’s finite element model, and the model is simplified by mechanic theory; Subsequently, frequencies and modes of gas holder are calculated; After obtaining dynamic responses of gas holder under wind load, the displacement and acceleration before and after TMD vibration reduction can be deliberately compared, and the damping coefficient is defined to evaluate the effect of vibration reduction.Results verify that the installation form and the corresponding parameters of TMD are reasonable, which has a good damping performance for gas holder.
