Indoor decoration materials may release VOCs and other toxic and harmful substances in use. Improper decoration may even lead to serious indoor air pollution, and affects the human health and work efficiency. The wood-based panel used in the decoration process is one of the main sources of indoor VOCs. With the amount of wood-based panel used in indoor decoration increased year by year, it will likely lead to in indoor environmental air pollution more serious. In this paper, firstly, measure the index of indoor air temperature and relative humidity, formaldehyde, TVOC and CO2 in the typical public buildings in Chongqing. Analysis the main pollutants, the main source of pollutants, and the main influencing factors which may cause indoor air pollution of public buildings in indoor airOn this basis, this paper using environmental chamber simulation of different environmental conditions. Set up different temperature, humidity, air exchange number and other environmental parameters, and ues different edge treatment methods and different surface coating methods to measure the change of the concentration of VOCs in the environmental chamber from wood-based panel. Research and analysis the influences of these factors on wood-based panel VOCs emission rule, can be gotten the main influencing factors of VOCs emission rule from wood-based panel and the emission rule of representative season. The research results will provide a theoretical basis to indoor decoration layout and adjust indoor environment parameter to control indoor air pollution and improve indoor air quality. This paper focused on solving the key parameters of wood-based panel formaldehyde emission by C-history method. According to the mass transfer model of the VOCs emission from wood-based panel, simulating VOCs emission rule. Finally, proving the accuracy of the experiment and theoretical model by comparing the simulation result with the experiment prediction result. The main results are as follows:1) Chongqing public building indoor thermal conditions has met the standards, but indoor pollutions formaldehyde, TVOC and CO2 exceeded allowable limit in different degree. Among them, TVOC is the most serious pollution, followed by formaldehyde. What’s more, it is more polluted in shopping malls than in office buildings.2) The process of formaldehyde release from wood-based panel by using the environmental cabin to simulate can be divided into three stages: initial fast release stage, stable release stage and long-term release stage. The process of TVOC release can be divided into active period which the release amount significant changes with time and stable period. The release trend of formaldehyde and TVOC will not change with the temperature and relative humidity.3) Raising the temperature or humidity will increase the release rate of formaldehyde and TVOC, and the change of temperature and humidity had more effect on formaldehyde than on TVOC. It had more influence on the emission of formaldehyde and TVOC under the effect of both temperature and humidity. If temperature and humidity change at the same time, it will have more significant impact on the release of formaldehyde and TVOC from wood-based panels.4) Air changes rate have less effect on the emission rule of formaldehyde and TVOC. It released more formaldehyde and TVOC with sealed end faces than with open faces. Solvent carpentry lacquer coating on wood based panels have inhibitory effect on the release of formaldehyde and TVOC, and at this time, formaldehyde and TVOC in the wood paint plays a main role.5) Using wood-based panel VOCs mass transfer models to predict wood-based panel formaldehyde emission concentration, compared with the experimental results, the result is regarded valid. The distributed mass transfer model can be used to simulate the emission concentration of VOCs in the wood-based panel without surface coating..
