As an essential heat provider of mine exploitation, the water jacket heater plays an important role in the production process of oil gas field. Based on the water jacket heater project of Hefei General Machinery Research Institute which will export to Egypt, the paper focuses on the hardware and software design of water jacket heater control system based on PLC and emphasizes the automatic control of the temperature in spiral coil. Compared with traditional heater, the designated one is featured with outstanding capacity, convenient operation, and a high safety level so as to be the ideal heat provider in oil field.By analyzing the technical requirements and features of the heater system and referring to popular control methods of industrial heater in recent years at first, the paper presents an integral separated PID control method of water jacket heater. The implementation of this design will significantly promote the system efficiency, reduce the overshoot, guarantee the stability of controlled object and lower the influence of disturbances to temperature control.Based on the above method, the paper further accomplish the hardware design and the choosing of maters in accordance with hardware selection principles of Programmable Logic Controller. The design utilize the specialized programming software STEP 7 of Siemens S7-300 PLC to complete the PLC control program according to the technical requirements, and create a friendly human-computer interface. Moreover, in order to prove the superiority, the designated system is compared with traditional PID control method after be simulated under the circumstance of Simulink through MATLAB, in regard with the control method and system feature of water jacket heater. Last, the paper draws a conclusion to the design of water jacket heater control system that it functions stably and reliably, and meets the requirements and expectations.As a successful case of exporting domestic-designed water jacket heater control system to the international market, this design is of a certain theological and practical value.
