With the development of calcium carbide industry, calcium carbide production technology has become the key to its long-term development. Calcium carbide industry faces at present in our country, such as a new version of the calcium carbide industry access (2014 revision) and the advent of the era of rising production costs lead to zero profit, etc.Therefore, in order to make the calcium carbide industry rapid development, profitable, energy conservation and emissions reduction, raw materials and the additional product must be developed comprehensive utilization of calcium carbide production technology.In this paper, a systematic study on traditional techniques and new techniques for calcium carbide production has been carried out contrapose. At first, a simple introduction on application of calcium carbide and its status of industry presented. The introduction of the traditional and new technology in a calcium carbide factory showed afterwards. I especially introduced the new technology delivered by the factory by technological innovation. And by comparing the two method’s material and energy consumption for production a ton of standard calcium carbide, a prediction of the application value for the new techonogy in large-scale industrial practice.Research results show that the research of new raw material to produce calcium carbide composite pellets mixed with 30% of calcium carbide clean production new technology has the following advantages:(1)Mixed with 30% a composite pellets is the new material of calcium carbide clean production new technology compared with traditional calcium carbide production process in the production of 1t standard calcium carbide (gas evolution of 300 L/kg) in the process of the energy consumption of material consumptions and, among them, the limestone consumption from 1.99 t to 1.84 t, coal from 924 kg to 853 kg, total power consumption from 3189 kWh fell to 3135 kWh, comprehensive energy consumption of fell to 1.098 tce from 1.145 tce, at the same time can save production costs 98 yuan.(2)The preparation of composite pellets is the new material on the one hand, able to take advantage of relatively cheap and well-resourced powdered carbon materials (such as: coke powder) of coal-fired power plants instead of coke.Using limestone powder instead of lime piece on the other hand, can save the fuel for burning lime process;Third can make full use of calcium carbide CO generated within the furnace combustion to the calcium carbonate and calcined composite pellets composite pellets to make use of calcium carbide furnace exhaust gas residual heat drying.(3)With mixed 30% a composite pellets is the new material of new technology of calcium carbide clean production test, the effect of the using calcium carbide clean production new technology is feasible.
