Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) materials have attracted considerable interest owing to their novel structures and wide applications in gas storage and separation, magnetism, luminescence, and drug delivery. To our best knowledge, a great number of work have been devoted to the synthesis of MOFs containing transition metal and lanthanide ions while only a few work done for main group metal compounds such as bismuth carboxylate compounds. In this work, we used two types of ligands: pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate and benzene-tri/tetracarboxylate, which were added in the reaction system together, to synthesize three Bi-organic coordination polymers. Furthermore, by introducing the surfactant as a functional reagent which is expected to help to regulate the structures and properties of synthesized materials, we have synthesized three indium sulfate compounds under surfactant-thermal method with a mixture of indium oxides, organic amine and sulfuric acid.1. Three bimuth-organic compounds, namely, Bi(2,6-pdc)(H2btc)(H2O)2 (1), Bi2(2,6-pdc)2(H2pyr)(H2O)2 (2) and Bi(nta)(H2O)2 (3) (2,6-pdc = Pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate; H2btc = 1,3,5-Benzenetricarboxylic acid; H2pyr = 1,2,4,5-Benzenetetracarboxylic acid; nta = Nitrilotriacetic acid). All of these three compounds contain dimeric {Bi2} secondary building units. The dimeric {Bi2} units of compound 1 and 3 are linked by 2,6-pdc2- ligands and nta3- ligands to form an 1D chain, respectively; and the dimeric {Bi2} units of compound 2 are linked by H2pyr2-ligands to form a 2D net with 44 topology. Compounds 1 and 2 display blue and 3 displays white luminescence.2. Three indium sulfate compounds, (C4N3Hi4)2[In2O(SO4)2] (4), (C3N2H4)6In2(SO4)3 (5) and (CH3NH3)In(SO4)2 (6). Compounds 4-6 separately have OD, 1D and 2D structures formed by In irons linking SO42- in turn. Compound 5 emits blue light when exited at 380 nm.The single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, powder X-ray diffraction, elemental analysis, the infrared and thermogravimetric analysis were used to characterize the compounds mentioned above.
