Dagang oil field is a kind of complex fault block oil reservoir. The reservoir geologic characteristic feature in several complex and small fault block. The remaining oil distribution has been very complex after more than40years water-flood development and it is very difficult to determine the adjustment techniques. In that situation, to slow down water cut increasing and production decline and to improve the ultimate recovery rate, the research of complex fault block reservoir at the late development period should be researched urgently.This paper focuses on the characteristics of remaining oil distribution of GX fault block of Dagang oil field on the basis of geological data, numerical simulation technique, dynamic data and core data. Through the search, the characteristics of remaining oil distribution have been systematically studied. Using it as a base, the development strategy and deployment scheme which will effectively influence development of GX fault block have been presented. Base on the search, the main jobs completed are included:(1) The current development effectiveness of GX fault block has been evaluated though ten targets for evaluating the effect of water injection, such as water-flooding control degree, injector-producer connection factor, pay-gross thickness ratio. Based on these targets for evaluating the effect of water injection, the problem of development at present stage has been analyzed.(2) The reservoir numerical simulation model of the block has been established by using the reservoir simulation software.(3) The characteristics of remaining oil distribution have been researched on the basis of numerical simulation technique, such as major oil-bearing sandstone, near geologic faults.(4) The characteristics of remaining oil distribution have been researched through core data. The sealed coring data comes from two sealed coring wells. And these sealed coring well drilling and coring by water flooding experiment analysis provides a scientific basis for the quantitative description of reservoir numerical simulation and residual oil distribution.(5) The development strategy and scheme have been presented after the analysis of the remaining oil distribution of GX block and the analysis of simulation results and sealed coring data.(6) According to the research of development strategy and scheme of this GX block, deployed the remaining oil potential solution for GX block. The whole GX block will be divided into four series of development strata. The effect of water flooding and oil production is expected to have improved significantly after using the scheme. This paper has a guidance function to the development of fault block reservoir of Dagang oil field.
