The rubber sealing ring is the important part in a sewage pump, its performance directly affects the sewage pump’s working condition. The work environment of rubber sealing ring in the sewage pump is complex and harsh, and the complex external factors will accelerate the aging of rubber sealing ring. But now the general sealing ring used in the sewage pump have a poor aging resistance and a short service life, and it increases the maintenance workload of the sewage pump, so it’s necessary to research and develop a new type sealing ring with superior aging resistance and mechanical properties. Through the experiments, this paper developed a new rubber sealing ring with good aging resistance in domestic sewage medium, predicted its aging life, and provided ideas and methods of formulation for the rubber sealing ring in sewage pump. Main contents of this paper are as follows:1.After reviewing a lot of literature and combining with the work environment of rubber sealing ring in sewage pump, the mechanism of external factors and formula factors contributing to the aging of the rubber sealing ring were studied in this paper. These Jobs provided theoretic bases for the research of rubber sealing ring in sewage pump.2.The influence of changes of sulfur, anti-ager, plasticizer, accelerant etc content to rubber’s aging resistance and mechanical properties was analysed through the test data of the orthogonal test and the test of aging resistance and mechanical properties.3.The order of the influence of formula factors to the performance indexes was determined through range analysis. The optimum formula of the rubber sealing ring in sewage pump with superior aging resistance and mechanical properties was determined:EPDM (100phr), carbon black N115 (45phr), ZnO (5phr), SA (1phr), sulfur (0.5phr), anti-ager 4010N A (3phr), accelerant TMTD (1.5phr), accelerant NS (lphr), plasticizer A (2phr)4.The aging life prediction model of rubber sealing ring with the optimum formula in the sewage pump was built by accelerated aging test in sewage medium of 373K,363K,353K,343K and the method of kinetics curve. When the rubber sealing ring is under the average working temperature of 303K, the model predicts:When the critical value of aging characteristic index Po is 0.4, the aging life is 7.21 years. When the critical value of aging characteristic index Po is 0.5, the aging life is 4.33 years.
