Workover rig is a necessary equipment for tubing string and the replacing downhole tools in various of oil field operations. In our country, more than one hundred thousand times various types of repair and stimulation would be done every year. Workover rig is not only under dead load, but also under the hook load when lifting tool, the wind load on wind loaded guy rope and the vibration load which is produced by workover rig vibrating in operation. The workover rig stability is particularly important under these loads.Derrick is a key component of workover rig, which bears the main load. There will emerge a large impact when workover rig complete the workover operation, especially when there is a sudden braking at the end of tubular column up or down. That make the derrick bear large additional dynamic load and Produce violent vibration. Therefore, if the derrick system has an improper design.it not only waste raw materials, but also cause the unexpected failure and accident. In this paper, XJ250 workover rig is taken as the research object. Aiming at the stability problems of head tilting and rolling in the field, estimating the limited hook load. And modeling the whole machine with the help of ANSYS software, then simulating he stress state in the work. It has been conducted the statics analysis, modal analysis and stability analysis. And the cause of the instability of XJ250 rig has been summarized, which provides a theoretical basis for the optimization designing.
