Silica is an important reinforcing material in rubber industry after carbon black, especially applying to the tire tread can reduce the rolling resistance of the tire and have good wet skid resistance at the same time. However, its surface is covered by active silanol groups and adsorbed water, silica is difficult to disperse in the organic phase and has poor compatibility with hydrocarbon rubber. So the reinforcing performance of silica is not good. In order to improve the combination effect between the silica and the polymer interface and promote dispersibility of silica particles in the rubber compound, the surface of silica need to be modified. In this article, silanized silica was prepared via ball milling method, mainly studied the influence of the silane coupling agents, different treatment methods and surface-active agent on the microscopic morphology, Mooney viscosity, curing characteristics, mechanical and dynamic properties of SSBR, various types of rubber and SSBR/NR/BR composites. The experimental results showed that when the silane coupling agent was added to SSBR compound filled with silica, the mechanical properties of vulcanizate were improved significantly and the loss factor and storage modulus were reduced. The vulcanized rubber modified by Si69 had best comprehensive performance. Ball milling silanized silica can improve the scorch time, reduce Mooney viscosity and curing time. The mechanical properties were improved and Payne effect was weakened. Curing time and Mooney viscosity decrease with the add of the Si69. The vulcanized rubber had best mechanical properties and dynamic properties when the amount of Si69 was 5phr (silicax 10%) and 4phr (silicaƗ8%) respectively. When the amount of DPG was 1.5phr the mechanical properties were best. Payne effect was weakest when the amount of DPG was lphr. The ball milling silanized silica was filler into difference rubbers. The tensile and tear properties of NR were superior to other rubbers. BR had best elasticity and wear and SSBR had best dynamic properties. The ball milling silanized silica was filler into SSBR/NR/BR composites, SSBR/NR had best tensile and tear properties. SSBR/BR had best wear and lowest rolling resistance. Payne effect of SSBR was lowest.
