It will use large quantities of chemical solvents and additives in the whole textile productionprocess, even after washing, there are still some residues. Volatile organic compounds(abbreviated as VOCs) are an important part of the residual solvent. It can be absorbed into thebody through the respiratory tract, skin and gastrointestinal. It also have excellent water-miscible,so it can migrate in saliva or sweat during wearing clothes, and then be absorbed by the body, thehazardous substances among it will endanger the health of customers. Currently, it has less reportabout textile detection methods of harmful volatile organic compounds. Hence, there is urgentneed to establish detection of textiles’ harmful residues and migration of VOCs, control themwithin safe limits to eliminate public’s concerns. This paper uses static headspace chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques to buildqualitative screening detection of textiles’ harmful residues and migration of VOCs andquantitative detection of residual volume and migration methods and discusses the relevantparameters of the detection. The results of the research lay the foundation for the regulators toimplement risk monitoring, develop appropriate regulatory regime, measures and technicalregulations, as well as provide technical support for consumer safety and health. In this paper, the main research contents and conclusions are as follows:(1) Enrichment of harmful VOCs By static headspace to detect combined with gaschromatography mass spectrometry, using selection retention time and characteristics of ions forqualitative, using cotton matrix-matched calibration curves for quantitative, to establish a textiles’residual amount of harmful VOCs testing method. Using recoveries and relative standarddeviation (RSD) to verify the accuracy and precision of method. The results show that thismethod’s linear range is moderate, precision, accuracy, rapid and sensitive.(2) Respectively using both static headspace (SHS) and headspace-solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) two headspace analysis technology, combined with gas chromatographymass spectrometry to do rapid qualitative analysis for18kinds of target volatile organiccompounds (VOCs). (3) By evaluating the detection capability and sensitivity and stability testing of volatilematter of this two methods, taking into account the actual mass rapid detection features, choosestatic headspace technology is the more suitable acquisition methods for textiles rapid qualitativescreening of volatile organic compounds. Get the best headspace extraction conditions by singlefactor experiment and orthogonal experiment. The recoveries between80%-110%and the relativestandard deviation is less than15%, compared with matrix-free calibration method, recoveryincreases significantly. However, the target dichlorobenzene and trichlorobenzene were greaterimpacted by matrix, analysis is less stable, does not suit this method.(4) Using artificial saliva and artificial sweat as extraction solution, take color fastness’sdetection method as reference to do pretreatment migration detection to optimize headspacecondition. Based on standard curve method established a kind of determination method of textiles’migration of harmful volatile organic compounds by using gas-liquid static headspace gaschromatography mass spectrometry analysis method. The recoveries is between80%-110%andthe relative standard deviation is less than8%, the method shows good precision and accuracy.(5) Using established detection method for migration testing of residues in real samples, atthe same time, study the residual tendency of wool, polyester, cotton, viscose and other sheerfabrics’ tetrachlorethylene after dry. Total144textiles, there are79samples which the volatileorganic compounds content exceeds the detection limit, total10kinds of target organic volatileswere detected. There are total two solvent residue’s migration dichloromethane andtetrachlorethylene were found in this batch of samples.
