With the deepening of global economic integration, green trade barrier is becoming a new non-tariff trade barrier, along with the gradually weakening of the traditional trade barriers. Because of to various green barriers, many China enterprises’ cargoes are rejected from developed market, which causes giant loss to China’s economy. Due to the pressure of external supervision, market demand from consumer, and internal drive for competition, how to handle green barrier has significant meaning.Firstly, this thesis introduces the background and cause of green barrier’s emergence, and analyses green barrier from the form of expression, influence scope, and the impact on enterprises. According to survey result, EU REACH regulation, RoHS Directive and American conflict minerals Act rank top three about the impact on enterprise. While the Carbon disclosure and corporate social responsibility from sustainability field would become new barrier in future. Study on these key green barriers will benefit S company to devise its green strategies.In the second place, the thesis gives a brief introduction to S company’s case. In S company, the environmental management work is taken care by separated functional departments. The plan is to build one green supplier chain to connect each department to handle green barrier. However, the result is far from satisfaction. Now S company is facing multiple issues:unsuitable management method, lacking of data for regulatory requirement, non-sensitive to environmental barrier changes, unaffordable management cost.To resolve these troubles, S company starts green organizing flow reengineering from optimizing organizational structure. Previous environmental work separated in design, production, quality, sales department is relocated and assigned together to new team called EMS. Meantime, new environmental compliance process is established. Instead of testing environmental compliance after production, new green strategy is to design green product and audit incoming components and materials. Green policy guiding the whole process is built and published. When new green strategy is implemented, benchmarking and information technique skill are widely used. Benchmarking against world-class environmental system practice helps to perfect current program and raise competence. On the other hand, by cooperation of PLM system and environmental management system, foundation work is automated, like collecting and reviewing material date declaration sheet from supplier, generating environmental compliance form. After implementation of new green strategy, S company achieves dramatic improvement in environment performance and become leader in the industry.Finally, summarize the environmental compliance work to "GPRS":Gate, Policy, Regulation, and Source. And the internal environmental management system and external third part audit are found able to consolidate the achievement.
