The mooring cable as a major component of marine mooring system, plays a very important role in the security of offshore oil exploitation. As under the water, cable lies in a harsh environments for a long time, which makes it very easy to produce wear, broken wires, corrosion and other damages, and this is a serious threaten to the safety of offshore oil development. Therefore, to carry out a series of mooring cable quality testing, has became one of the international hot spots, also has very important economic and social significance.After the feasibility argumentation of that the magnetic flux leakage detection technology can be applied in the field of non-destructive testing of mooring cable testing, this project designed and produced a detection system for the broken wire rope. The detection system consists of two parts, hardware and software. The main function of the hardware devices is to magnetize the wire rope, using sensors and signal conditioning circuit to converse the signal of broken wire rope from the non-electricity to electricity. And the software part mainly to achieve the function of real-time display of the signal of broken wire rope on the PC.In the course of development of the detection system, firstly, analyzes the cable magnetic flux leakage model, and on this foundation to design and produce the excitation regulator of the detection system, secondly, choose SS496liner Hall sensor as the detecting element, and as a basis for the design of detector system and signal processing circuit, thirdly, combine Lab VIEW technology with data acquisition to develop the data acquisition system of the signal of broken wire rope, which achieve the real-time display of the signal of broken wire rope on the PC.Lastly, for the different types of cable defects, this project do the detection experiments under laboratory conditions by using the detection system of broken wire rope which is successfully produced during the project, for example the speed detection, soaking detection, simulantly external coverings and devices immersion testing. Experiments indicate that the broken wire rope detection system can qualitative detection in the mooring cable broken wire. The results of this research will provide reference for the further study and the practical technique for the detection of mooring cable NDT.
