The steel ID on the surface of metal workpiece is the workpiece`s serial number, the detection and identification of the steel ID is the base of logistics management informatization,automatic dispatching and dynamic display of the enterprise, the study on the method of the detection and identification of steel ID has a significant meaning.This paper study the basic principles of Magnetic Flux Leakage detection from the physical model and the theoretical model, and introduces the method of Direct Current Magnetic Flux Leakage inspection which includes the principles Direct Current Magnetic Flux Leakage inspection, the magnetization of the detection objects and the detection sensor. Analyze the constitution character of the steel ID and the relations between the flaw trend and the amount of Magnetic Flux Leakage.The steel ID is composed by English letter and number, this paper study on the detection and identification of numbers.First,study on the experiments of the detection and identification of steel ID based on Self-magnetization, but can not get proper identification signals. Then using the external magnetization , introduces a method of detection and identification steel ID of surface of metal workpiece, based on an integrated linear Hall sensor array: magnetizing the detection object from two Orthogonal direction and using Hall sensor array to detecting and identifying the steel ID by scanning the object along the two direction. Experimental results that the method has good effect in detecting and identifying the steel ID. Improve the magnetization method can simplify the Structure of the detection system, utilize smaller Hall sensor can increase the number of the array Hall sensor can promote the efficiency of scanning and the accuracy of detecting. This method has broad application prospects.
