In theory, polarization remote sensing can be used for land objects observation. However, the observations always fail because scattered atmospheric particles exhibit stronger polarization phenomena than land objects, and then the information of land objects is submerged in the atmospheric polarization effect. How to eliminate the atmospheric polarization effects and its influence on land objects polarization is the key problem to land objects polarization remote sensing. Atmospheric neutral point is an area where the degree of atmospheric polarization is near to zero. Based on this important characteristic, Dr. Taixia Wu proposed a theory of using atmospheric neutral point for the separation polarization effect between objects and atmosphere for the purpose of eliminating the atmospheric polarization affects on land objects. In order to verify the validity and practicality of this theory, our group carried on the first polarization remote sensing experiment. In this paper, after processing the experimental data got from the experiment, the author analyzed the effects of eliminating atmospheric polarization with neutral point and did some research on the influence of observation wavelength on the result. In addition the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) polarization remote sensing has particular advantage over the traditional methods. However, the function of the existing UAV polarization remote sensing observation devices cannot satisfy our needs. In order to enable the researchers to control the observation devices remotely and download the images captured timely, our group developed a UAV polarization remote sensing control system. The author was responsible for the development of remote control and transmission software. The major functions of the software have been completed at present. This system can be used in the future polarization remote sensing observation, and can afford convenience for research of polarization remote sensing.
