Abstract/Summary:
It is worth pondering that foreign retailers made significant inroad into Chinese market and caused the surging growth of domestic retailers’competition-density, therefore it is of profound importance to scientifically assess the competitiveness of domestic retailers and to make accurate suggestion to promote competitiveness.The value creation activities of domestic retailers are systematically analyzed based on the achievements of value chain theory, dynamic capability perspective and resource-based view in this thesis, which elaborates the pattern of the creation of customer delivered value, including the value of products, service, personnel and image. In the meantime, value chain model of retailers is established that the primary activities include retail purchase, retail logistics, retail service and store operation, and the secondary activities include human resource management, information technology management and infrastructure management. The connotation and functioning logic of retailers’competitiveness are formulated on the perspectives of welfare economics and customer delivered value, and then an evaluating index system of retailers’ competitiveness which contains30indicators is established based on the value chain model of retailers.This thesis use catastrophe progression method, based on the tree structure of evaluating index system, determining the catastrophe systems’type of each gradation to evaluate the retailers’competitiveness and sort the sample enterprises by normalization formula. The results show that there is no obvious correlation between retailers’competitiveness and their advantages of payment; information technology capability enhances their capability of logistics; human resource management’s achievements promote the retail effectiveness of sales personnel; the efficiency of the store operation plays a vital role in retailers’competitiveness.
