A Study On Family Income Effect Caused By Large-scale Rural Land Circulation

Rural land circulation system, as a key institutional arrangement, has caught a lot of attention during the development and reform of rural land system. Agricultural development also demands study on rural land circulation. However, during the process of large-scale rural land circulation, farmers have to face potential risks while obtaining corresponding contract income; therefore they may experience actual improvement in their income or no significant improvement. With such background, this thesis investigate the influence of rural land circulation on farmers’income change effect based on the process during which land are transferred, to shed some light on which type of farmers can dramatically benefit from rural land circulation and which cannot.Based on the above, this thesis comprehensively adopts theories and technical methods of applied statistics, economics, sociology, organizational behavior together with basic support from existing literature. Cases discussed in this thesis are rural land circulation in Yongqiao District, Feixi County, Changfeng County and Xiao County that are located in Hefei and Suzhou, Anhui Province. This thesis combines field research and questionnaire analysis, experts’ advice and in-depth interviews, qualitative and quantitative analysis so as to conduct a deeper research on the current situation and major problems of rural land circulation development in these targeted places. This thesis is mainly divided into five chapters.Chapter1:IntroductionThis chapter serves as an general introduction to the background of the topic, the purpose and the significance of this thesis. Meanwhile this chapter describes the structural framework of this thesis, methods, techniques, main content and innovational points. Introduction guides the whole text, to be more detailed, this chapter first describes social and economic development during the period that is studied then introduces rural land reform and rural land circulation finally provides detailed description on relevant concepts and research methods.Chapter2Literature Review As the theoretical basis for this thesis, Chapter2reviews basic domestic theoretical perspectives and research status on land circulation, particularly focusing on land transfer, transfer will and behavior, and farmers’income. After reviewing certain amount of relevant literature, existing views fall into four aspects, namely the necessity of land circulation, current situation of land circulation, problems and countermeasures, and the willingness and behavior of farmers to participate, influence caused by rural land circulation on farmers’income. After a brief comment on what has been found through relevant literature, the research direction of this thesis is determined.Chapter3Analysis on current situation in investigated areaBased on recent years’rural land circulation data of Anhui Province, this chapter first conducts a general introduction of the overall environment of rural land circulation in these areas, then general social situation of investigated areas are provided with each area’s social background and farmers’income status quo. Finally, this chapter briefly describes investigated farmers’personal characteristics, family characteristics, social relevance and circulation expectations. Statistical description of geographical features and family income change plus some correlative predictions are also provided in the chapter.Chapter4Analysis of influence of rural land circulation on farmers’incomeWith the aid of data collected through questionnaire, this chapter adopts statistical analysis to select an appropriate argument, then on the basis of date obtained from sample farmers’land circulation, empirical analysis which uses SPSS16.0software to establish logistic econometric model on farmers’income change effect can be conducted.Chapter5Main conclusions and suggestions.Based on previous study, this chapter safely arrives at conclusions of this thesis, thus proposes countermeasures to promote rural land circulation and to increase farmers’income.
