The Change And Development Of Fur Industry Of Hui Nationality In Areas Inhabited By Many Ethnic Groups

Hui is a nationality which is very good at business. In the process of history, traditional business plays an important role in the development of the whole nationality. As for traditional business, people attach great importance to the fur industry. And we are given the idea that the research for the traditional business always presents a situation where researchers pay much attention to the northwestern areas but little to the scattering areas, according to the previous researching results. The Hui people in the scattering areas are the important components of the whole nationality in China, because of its distinctiveness in economy and culture. Based on such a reality, the thesis is going to talk about the traditional fur industry of Hui nationality in Xinye, Henan province, and to draw attention for it by showing the current situation and features, especially in the modern society. Furthermore, the research for the fur industry of scattering areas is also helpful for the study of it in the northwestern areas.For a long time, researchers have attached little importance to the fur industry of the scattering areas, the only information we can find is some rough descriptions.Nowadays, the modernization puts great pressures on the traditional business, which makes it extinctive. However, The methods used in ethnology and anthropology can help to solve this problem to some extent through collecting relevant information,doing analysis with useful theories, and to present the general features of the far industry in the scattering areas.The thesis is inclusive of four parts. First of all, a brief introduction to the economic and cultural situations of the Hui nationality in Xinye; second, the summary of information collected by survey. The third part is about the explanation of anthropology and analysis of the evaluation, structure and characteristics of fur industry. The last part is the conclusion part, which concerns the reflection and discussion of the development of fur industry in the modern society. During the modernization, the sophisticated technologies and theories are developed a lot but they also bring pressures to the traditional business, especially in the fur purchasing, processing and selling etc. Traditional customs have the restrictions in the development of traditional fur industry because of its capacity of accepting the outside new things. Therefore, things like conversion of people’s thoughts, change of attitude and modes of business operation, and improvement of human civilization and more can help the fur industry get out of the difficulties, and meet the requirements of the current development.
