Application Of FMEA In IT Project Risk Management

With the rapid development of information technology and network technology, more and more powerful function of IT project, the structure and logic of more and more complex, which greatly increases the risk of the project. For the sake of making the IT project completed on schedule, we must carry on the scientific management of the project, with particular attention to the risk management of the project. The majority of enterprises in China to carry on the risk management of IT project rely mainly on the management experience and ability, project group participation is very low, it is later found the problem caused by the consequences, to care for risk response. This process of ex post participation in risk management has brought great trouble, had serious consequences could be avoided. In addition, the risk management process of traditional complex, cumbersome steps, poor execution, the lack of documentation, project member’s participation is still not high, enterprises urgently need a simple project risk management models and methods.In order to solve the above problems, the failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) is introduced into the risk management of IT project. Through the FMEA analysis can be listed and cause potential assessment of failure mode and effect, and through continuous and repeated analysis, evaluation and improvement, the project risk can be effectively controlled. It is simple, easy to operate, executable and strong, full participation in the prevention of risk management and characteristics of FMEA used in IT project, has a very important theoretical and practical significance.This study combines the basic theory of IT project risk management and project experience, the application of FMEA in the IT project risk management is studied. Firstly, this paper expounds the basic theory of project risk management, analyzes the feasibility of the application of FMEA in the risk management in the IT project, and then introduces the principle of FMEA elements and process of FMEA, combining the FMEA general risk assessment technology, according to the characteristics of IT project, designed for IT FMEA analysis of the project process, standard and strategy formulation method. Through the use of FMEA in the actual case, can carry out prevention and continuous attention to the risks effectively, focus the limited resources to deal with important risk. Finally, summarizes the main points of application of FMEA and improvement measures. This research hopes to overcome the shortcomings of the existing IT project risk management, risk management and the introduction of a FMEA IT project. Innovation and significance:To explore a set of suitable for China’s IT enterprises is simple and effective risk management models and methods; the process of FMEA technology is introduced into the risk management of IT project, breaks through the traditional risk management model of IT project weakness and bound; made a beneficial attempt and exploration of the process FMEA analysis of IT project; summed up the failure mode in each stage of general IT project; theory with practice, both theory and supplemented by case.
