Patent Right is a branch of intellectual property right, which, in some way, reflects thedevelopment of technology of a country or area. With the engaging of the reform and openingpolicy, China’s economy has a rapid growth rate and so do the number of patent. As a result, the relationship between economy growth and the output of patent gets so much concern thatan important subject of analyze it has been. And that is exactly what this paper going todiscuss in the following parts, but in the scale of province.First of all, we build a model to describe the relationship between the number ofauthorized patent and GDP from1993to2012by statistic analysis. By doing so, we can drawa conclusion that there is a co-integration relationship between these variables and theGranger causality test holds, which leads to a result that patents can prompt the economy witha lag of one year or three. In addition, through the different angles of the actual data and thecurrent patent review approval process, three kinds of patent (patent for invention, designpatent and utility model patent) to play in the process of economic development is to expandthe role of analytical studies. Then, by using the data of three variables, the expenditure of R&D, the number of R&Dresearchers and the output of patent, and a VAR model consists of these variables which isbased on the co-integration theory, we can draw a conclusion related to the number, orientation and effect of these variables that there is positive co-relation between output ofpatent and the other variables. As for province, the variance contribution rate of theexpenditure of R&D is relatively smaller than that of the number of R&D researchers, whichhas significant and illuminating influence on governments’ policy making. Finally, give some advice according to the empirical results as well as the developmentof patent right and the relevant problems. Increase the input of R&D;. Improve the quality ofR&D researchers, and enhance the protection consciousness of intellectual property right aswell; Cooperate with others so as to boom the integration in economy and technology; Perfect incentive system of enterprise and personal creation; Support the medium of technology inorder to transfer patent into production...
