To ensure national food security and solve food problem,1.8billion mu of arable land red line should be strictly defended, and also the quality of arable land should be constantly improved. Only by adhering to land quality and quantity of arable land, as well as land use control system, the strictest farmland protection system can be better implemented, which can also provide resource support for rapid and good social economy development.In this paper, Huangpi District farmland is the research object. On the foundation of current home and abroad research, and the research method has combined quantitative and qualitative, standardized research and empirical research. The topic of this paper focus on the natural quality of farmland of Huangpi District,and also state the concept of social quality and economic quality of its research. The innovation and contribution of this paper is to enrich the connotation of quality farmland and expand the outreach of cultivated land quality, as well as discuss the current situation and changes of Huangpi farmland quality. Discusses the Huangpi District informative data for the quality of cultivated land change, And put forward the measures to maintain and improve the quality of cultivated land.Arable land in Huangpi District (mainly paddy and dry soil) is divided into yellow brown soil, moisture soil and paddy soil. In past30years, arable land has been greatly reduced:yellow-brown reduced66.30%, moisture soil reduced63.51%and paddy soil reduces34.86%.While, alkaline arable soil nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, organic matter, PH value and other natural background have no significant differences.Social quality of arable land is the influence of arable land on social environment and social effect generated by it. From2006to2012, the total area of cultivated land resources in Huang pi District is about53,000hectares. The proportion of paddy fields and dry fields is8:2.The reduction of arable land mainly due to capital construction on farmland, and78%of the arable land in the region can achieve efficient irrigation:including48%mechanical and electrical drainage area. Economic quality of arable land means, based on investment, including labor and materialized labor, material and economic utility gains which have been achieved. It is urgently to step up construction of high quality, high standard farmland in Huangpi District. In Huangpi District, the annual use of fertilizer is920tons per thousand hectare, plastic sheeting23tons per thousand hectare, diesel134tons per thousand hectare, and pesticides40tons per thousand hectare. From2006to2012, annual output value of agriculture is about436,154billion yuan, and agricultural net output is319,736billion yuan, so the agricultural net output rate is about73%. In Huangpi District, the agricultural inputs only fertilizer is higher than the average level in Wuhan, agricultural net output rate must be stable continuous improvement.By research and taking environmental pollution, haze and other living reality into consideration, the author of this paper has thought that the next step should focus on strengthening the quality of farmland ecological research which can provide theoretical support for the ecological civilization construction.
