Oil and gas are extremely important strategic resources and the important material basis of the national economy. The future fate of the country depends on the control of energy. After the Cold War, the world began to face the pressure of the economic development and energy shortages. With the rapid development of industry, the dramatic increase of population and the improving of living standards, energy shortage has become a global problem. More and more countries have become to focus on the energy security.Rich oil and gas resources in Central Asia make it becomes the world’s third-largest oil-producing region. Coupled with the heart of the Eurasian continent, the Central Asia has becomes the strategic area that the world’s major powers want to seize. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Central Asian countries became independence. They also launched a series of national energy industry development strategy and actively open foreign policy to revitalize the economy. Uzbekistan as one of the oil and gas resources countries in Central Asia, since the establishment of diplomatic relations with China, the two countries maintained good relations of cooperation. After the independence of Uzbekistan, the economic development is very slow because of the influence by the former Soviet Union. In order to revitalize the economy, Uzbekistan proposed resource rejuvenating strategy. In recent years, China as the biggest developing country in the world, its rapid economic development made its demand for energy followed a surge. So the cooperation in oil and gas between the two countries is a mutually beneficial and win-win choice. On the one hand, Uzbekistan can achieve the diversification of energy export and reduce dependence on Russia, in that way to boost economic development. On the other hand, China can achieve the diversification of energy import and reduce dependence on overseas energy, so as to build national energy security system.This paper starts with the energy cooperation of Uzbekistan and China. Firstly, analyzing the procedures of the cooperation and noting the history and current situation of the cooperation, and then indicating the favorable and unfavorable factors in the process during the procedures, finally, putting forward to the policy of promoting cooperation in oil and gas of Uzbekistan and China. The author believes that, in the support of the two countries government and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the deepening cooperation will not only in terms of oil and gas resources but also in all aspects of the economic and trade fields.
