Shaxi Ancient Town Tourism Development Model Research On Indigenous Rights

Historical town creates conditions for tourism development with its historical and cultural advantages.Tourism brought economic benefits and popularity for the town.However,with tourism planning going on,the number of people moved out of the town is larger,the breath of town life increasingly diluted,the phenomenon of hollow,commercialization and replication challenging the sustainable development of the town.Meanwhile,theory research lags behind practice,many well-known towns have paid their price.In this case,people realize their responsibility to protect its culture and cultural carrier,and begin to reflect the model of tourism.Researchers start take attention on residents in the town,and community participation,the perception and attitudes of residents become a focus.It takes Shaxi town in Jianchuan of Yunnan province which is the only surviving ancient agora as research object,exploring the tourism development model of Shaxi from the perspective of indigenous people.Based on the literature review,it defines the concept of the indigenous people,and indigenous tourism,and notes the core role of indigenous people in tourism development of the town. It summarizes the characteristics of Shaxi’s tourism resources and the current problems of tourism development,through questionnaires,interviewing,date collection and analysis,the problems includes uneven age structure of indigenous people,lower education levels,lacking awareness of culture protection,limited ability to participate in tourism,and uneven distribution of economic benefits.In the research of Shaxi’s tourism development model,it places the indigenous people in the core of the entire system,tourism resources of Shaxi is the basis for self-positioning,and is the basis for the tourism development; as an important stakeholder,government is the external motivation in tourism,supporting and promoting tourism development.Finally,it culminates tourism development model of Shaxi--"indigenous people participating model" and "government auxiliary management mode",and elaborates their meaning and practice forms.
