| With the continuous growth of the world’s population and economic development, the dietary structure of human being optimizes. And now people become aware of the fact that resources on the land can not meet the needs of production and daily life, so they develop and make the most use of living aquatic resources for their survival and development. China has a long history in aquatic product industry and has always been the No.1aquatic products exporter in the world since2002. However, China’s aquatic products export trade is still faced with many problems and challenges, such as the increase of trade frictions and extensive export means. Japan has been the largest export market of Chinese aquatic products. However, since the Japanese government introduced kinds of policies to limit the import from China, Chinese aquatic products have obvious fluctuations. At the same time, Japanese aquatic products’qualities have a direct impact on China’s aquatic products export trade at large. Therefore the study of changes of aquatic products trade between China and Japan is in favor of enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese aquatic products in the Japanese market, the stability of Chinese aquatic products export to Japan and the development of Chinese fishery industry. This paper is divided into five chapters, key elements are as follow:1. The status quo of aquatic products export from China to JapanThe analysis of the status quo of aquatic products export from China to Japan, mainly including the descriptive analysis of overall situation, total quantity, structure as well as the price and demand of Chinese aquatic products export to Japan. Using the descriptive analysis to find out main problems, and then propose reasonable and targeted policy recommendations.2. The analysis of aquatic products export from China to Japan based on CMS modelIn refer to the theories and methods of export fluctuations of aquatic products at home and abroad, the study of Chinese aquatic products export to Japan is based on the constant market share model (CMS model). For a better comparison of the bilateral trade trend, the15years are divided into three periods from1997to2011. At first, this paper makes analysis of contribution made by China’s aquatic export to Japan from the demand effect, structure effect and competitive effect. Secondly, make a refined analysis using five categories to provide policy recommendations systematically. The results show that:Since being a member of the WTO, China’s target market of aquatic products export get more and the dependent on the Japanese market become smaller, but the Japanese market is still play a great role in China’s export of aquatic products. Demand Effects are compared with each other in the three periods has always been a positive effect, and the proportion of contribution rate are the highest; Structural Effects improves markedly as the time goes by, but the proportion of contribution is weak; Competitive Effect is negative, just as the results show that the competitiveness of Chinese aquatic products in the Japanese market is getting smaller and smaller. The advantaged products exported from China to Japan are mainly concentrating on relatively small size of the species of Japanese import, and the matching degree of Chinese export products and Japanese demand is very low. Although the export condition of aquatic products in China has been improved but is still extensive, with serious depletion of natural resources to get cheaper price. Moreover, the attention on and respond to Japanese policies in aquatic product industry is seriously weak, product quality has to be improved in deed. |
