With the development of urbanization, people get more and more pressure from work andlife. Heavy traffic, polluted air, all kinds of noise, crowds, etc., all these words become the mostrepresentative labels of urban development and are also the reflection of negative factors causedby urban economy development. These problems become big concern that trouble thegovernment and peoples’ life quality, therefore, the attention to rural tourism continues growing,people from the city try to go to the mountain area and the countryside looking for ways torelieve stress from work temporarily and enjoy the peaceful life, adjust their physical and mentalstate through rural tourism. In recent years, rural tourism has become a new focus of nationaltourism. Rural tourism has become a new growth point of Shandong tourism as well and hasbeen paid great attention by the provincial and municipal government. According to statistics,Shandong rural tourism revenue reached92billion RMB in2012, which accounts for20.3percent of total revenue of Shandong tourism. Total rural tourism revenue in Linyi achieved16.551billion RMB in2013and increased9.3percent compared with last year, taking up morethan one-third of total tourism revenue in Linyi.Currently, the ordinary farmhouse-theme product for sightseeing is still the majority ruraltourism products in Yimeng Mountains Area, how to enrich rural tourism products in this regionand create rural tourism products system with unique Yimeng characteristics is crucial to thesustainable development of rural tourism in Yimeng Mountains Area. This paper analyzesadvantages and disadvantages of the existing rural tourism resources in Yimeng Mountains Areaand studies related researches on rural tourism and rural tourism product development both athome and abroad. It elaborates the achievement and problems of the present rural tourismproducts exploitation and puts forward the strategies and tactics for rural tourism productplanning that reflects the unique era image for Yimeng Mountains Area with the application ofproduct life cycle theory, sustainable development theory. It provides guidance in rural tourismproduct planning for this area.Although this research is based on Yimeng Mountains Area, it still has a good referencevalue for other regions to carry out rural tourism work and rural tourism product development research and planning, even for the standardized and institutionalized management for ruraltourism. Meanwhile, it provides reference materials to the one who will do research on ruraltourism product development in future and has important reference value to theory developmentand planning for rural tourism.
