| Along with the integration of global economy and knowledge, the top managerreceived the challenges of the increasingly fierce market competition and the closecollaboration of departments, efficient collaboration of a team of top managers isimperative. In1984Hambrick and Mason proposed the senior echelon theory whichimmediately makes many scholars to carry out a large number of researches about thetop management team, organizational performance, strategy and organizationalchange. In recent years, the study from the view of the senior management teamcharacteristics becomes a new perspective.In this paper, we focus on the current lack of entrepreneurial drive of the topmanagement team, combined with the introduction of domestic and foreign scholarsstudy using the senior echelon theory and resource-based view etc. to learn therelationship between entrepreneurial drive, strategic choice and entrepreneurialperformance. We make hypotheses and take undergraduate students of NanjingUniversity of Finance and Commerce as sample object, then make correlation analysisand regression analysis by SPSS software in order to verify the mentioned hypotheses.In this paper, we get the following conclusions:(a) TMT entrepreneurial drive(especially the risk and innovation) has a significant correlation betweenentrepreneurial performance (profitability and development capacity).(b) Strategicchoices have a significant correlation on entrepreneurial performance (profitabilityand development capacity).(c) Different strategic choices have different regulatoryrole in the relationship between the top management team entrepreneurial drive(especially the preference for innovation) and entrepreneurial performance.Following the empirical results, this paper also gives certain reasons to somehypothesis without supports, and given the inadequacies of the study as well as thefuture development direction. |
