Protected by monopoly system for a long period of time, Chinese tobacco has a relatively closed market. And the marketing ideas as well as strategies of tobacco industry appear relatively backward. In such a circumstance, the major issue that needs to be solved in Chinese tobacco industry is innovating marketing ideas to enhance the comprehensive marketing competence of the tobacco industry.Mainly taking Zunyi Tobacco as an example, this paper systematically analyzes the current status and features of Zunyi folk custom consumption as well as the problems and disadvantages about the marketing of Zunyi Tobacco. It also comes up with cigarette folk custom marketing idea, explains the design and function of Zunyi Tobacco’s marketing strategy, and put forwards related countermeasures for the dilemma of Chinese tobacco marketing.During the research process of specific folk custom, adopting the research methods of questionnaire survey and statistical analysis as well as general analysis and case analysis, based on the investigation of folk custom in Zunyi region, this paper makes a general description and classified study on folk custom consumption market, and provides a pointcut for making a targeted cigarette marketing strategy. The innovations and conclusions of this paper are presented as follows:1. This paper researches the universality, inheritance, locality and variability of Zunyi folk custom market and folk custom consumption, and detailedly divides folk custom market into seven categories. It also takes wedding and festival folk customs as examples, make analyses from various levels, mainly analyzes the relevance between consumption features and tobacco marketing in folk custom market, and also make analyses on folk custom consumption market.2. Based on the level analysis on folk custom market as well as the actual situation and relevant data forms of Zunyi tobacco market, this paper comes up with brand marketing strategy, channel marketing strategy, and customer relation management strategy, and puts forth feasible suggestions on the specific operation of each strategy. This paper closely relates the folk custom consumption of Zunyi Tobacco and cigarette marketing cases. These analyses and research made by this paper is quite practical, and is of a certain reference meaning for improving the marketing standard of Zunyi Tobacco, and even Chinese tobacco industry.
