Suburban Urbanization Research

The suburban urbanization has been a community concern and attracted more attention. It not only alleviates urban development, population growth, environmental degradation, traffic congestion and other issues, but also can solve the problem of our "agriculture, rural development and rural population" by the way of agglomerating industrial and the developing modern agriculture, which is also the measures for enhancing our city’s comprehensive competitiveness and sustainable development initiatives. The suburban urbanization is the historical process, whose production structure of the outskirts of the city, the level and structure of the mode of production and income of the population, lifestyle, ideas and quality of the population have moved closer to the urban civilization. In this study, the author selected the Yantai City, Shandong Province as a case study area, carried out the theoretical studies of suburban urbanization in China. By analyzing the suburb urbanization problems of the selected area, measures to speed up the process of suburban urbanization of ZHIFU area was established in order to explore the way to solve the problem of suburban of cities in China and provide some reference for countries that will carry out a comprehensive suburban urbanization in futureUsing literature analysis and field survey as primary research methods, the author firstly defined the meaning of suburban urbanization based on the relevant theoretical knowledge and established the theoretical knowledge which will provide the support for the suburban urbanization. Secondly, this study summed up the domestic and international overview of suburban urbanization, analyzed the law of the foreign suburban urbanization, experience and enlightenment, and provided a clear review of the history of suburban urbanization process. By analyzing the current situation, existing problems and constraints, the author proposed the mode of suburban urbanization which is suitable for strategy establishment of the suburban urbanization in China. Finally, by examining the current situation and problems of the case area, the initiatives to accelerate the urbanization of our suburban were also discussed.This study also showed that ZHIFU suburban urbanization is facing both opportunities and challenges. There are still many problems in ZHIFU suburban urbanization, such as inadequate linking capacity of the central urban area to the newly developed suburbs, lack of supporting facilities, the low level of social security and lagged personnel training. Based on the results of this study, a theory and practice procedure are discussed and solutions for the perspective of system construction, cultural construction, industrial planning are proposed.
