The Efficiency Of Inter-provincial Tourism Industry Of The Western Region

The issue of efficiency is always eternal theme of economics. As far asgovernment and tourism’s company concerned, efficiency is that tourism industrycompanies are using combination of tourism industry resources and trying to make thesociety resources flowing to produce max of products or services. It is the generic termof input-and-output ability, competitive ability of market, the ability of sustainabledevelopment. First, the thesis analyzes and defines the concepts of efficiency, and itpresents the main research of efficiency method: Parameters method and non-Parametric method. Besides, it tidies the research content of tourism efficiency indomestic and foreign countries. The result shows that the foreign researches is earlierthan the domestic research of tourism efficiency and it mainly focuses on the hotels，travel agencies，airport and other related business that analyzes efficiency in singleenterprise form. But the domestic researches mainly focus on the macro researches onthe regional levels. The researches of domestic tourism efficiency involved the fieldsare fewer than foreign researches.Second，the thesis respectively uses DEA model and Malmquist index model tocalculate the static efficiency and dynamic efficiency of Chinese tourism. The resultshows that static efficiency of western region tourism keeps rising situation from0.708rising0.714from2000to2010, and the mean value is0.715, which western regiontourism efficiency has been improved in recent years. In11years, western regiontourism efficiency has some improved but has some waves, and it shows a “rising andfalling, rising and falling” trend. Dynamic efficiency of western region tourism hasarising with the average of11.4%growth from2000to200including annual averagegrowth8.7%of technical progress, annual average growth3.9%of technologyefficiency. So the inter-province dynamic efficiency growth of tourism is mainly comefrom technological progress, and is not obvious for the technology efficiency progress.Finally, the thesis uses econometrical panel data model to identify impact factorsof western regional tourism efficiency. The result shows that development level ofservice industry, and the level of road traffic construction is not obvious for the influence of tourism efficiency, but other four variables of tourism efficiency havesignificant influences. Among them, development scale of service industry has asignificant negative influence and other three variables have a significant positiveeffect, and the effect coefficient is from big to small: fixed assets investment, locationcondition and development level of regional economic.
