Competency was referred by Doctor McClelland in1973and he regardedcompetency as ones qualities and behaviors which made affect on ones performances.Then competency theory had been the hot topic of scholars since1980s. Some scholarsconstructed many kinds of competency theory models so that they could illustrate allcompetencies of every job, which is a good tool for human resources management. In1993, Chandler and Hanks firstly put forward “venture competency” which wasfollowed by some researches about venture competency models and competencycharacters which involved knowledge, skills, abilities, and characteristics of differententrepreneurs.Undergraduates are becoming the important part of entrepreneurs. Their behaviorssuit for the needs of this new era and play an important role in easing theunemployment, prompting skill innovation and improving districts economicdevelopment. Compared with other entrepreneurs, undergraduates have manydifferences especially in venture competency. What competency does undergraduatesown and how these competencies be cultivated are the main focus amongundergraduates, universities and governments.In this research, it combines the theory and fact to conduct the analysis about theundergraduates venture competency, which objects on the undergraduatesentrepreneurs from different colleges of Chong Qing. At first, do theory and documentresearch. On one hand, it summarizes the definition of competency, the characteristicsof competency and the models of competency; on the other hand, it sorts the theoriesof venture competency and models of them on the basis of the analysis of “venturing”and “entrepreneurs”. Secondly, establish theory model of undergraduates venturecompetency. In this part, it gains data through behavioral event interview and extractsthe44competence elements. On the basis of classification and definition of thecompetence elements,it initially constructs undergraduates venture competency model.Thirdly, test and correct the undergraduates venture competency theory model. Itconducts factor analysis and correlation analysis through Statistical analysis software16.0, makes adjustment of theory model competence elements and, in the end, buildsthe new model paralleling the theory and the real evidence. This model includes threecategories. The first one is Adversity Quotient which includes: A1innovation ability, A2problem solving and A3compression capability; the second one is EmotionalQuotient which includes: E1team cooperation ability E2self management ability E3interpersonal skills E4social responsibility; the third one is Intelligence Quotientwhich includes: I1professional theory and skills I2grasping market I3strategicdecision. In the last, it puts forward ascension paths for undergraduates venturecompetency.
