Soy bean, as one of the major oil and cash crops in our country, is regarded as a crucialindustrial raw material as well as the main source of oil and proteins. It is a long-industry chaincrop which has an impact over a wide area. Known as the cradle, the country of origin and alsoonce the biggest soy bean planting country worldwide, China had been in favorable export for along time. However, along with the rapid development of economy, the need for soybean mealand oil increases significantly. Domestic soybean production still falls far short of our actual needs, thus we have to import large quantities of soybeans from abroad. In recent years, soybeans havebecome the farm products with the largest insufficiency of supply-demand domestically. China hascumulative soybean imports of58.38million metric tons in2012, which increased by11.2%compared with those of2011. The total imports reached34.98billion dollars, which rose by17.6%compared with those of2011. Soybean imports ranked first in overall domestic grain crops.Nowadays China has become the largest soybean importer in the world, which possesses morethan half of universal imports annually. An influx of imported soybeans has a seriously adverseimpact on domestic soybean industry chain:More and more soybean processing enterprises chooseimported soybeans.Overall domestic soybean market shrinks associated with reduced sales andfew incomes of soybean farmers.Soybean farmers have less enthusiasm of planting soybeans andplanting areas have been reduced largely.Multinational corporations command soybean crushingenterprises and productivity, leading to a severe over-capacity problem of domestic soybeanprocessing companies. Most processing companies face a situation of deficit, personnel out ofwork or even straight bankruptcy. As China is in high demand of soybeans and actually is the mostdemanding country in the world, our pricing right in soybeans can be ignored. Increasing foreigndependency rate of domestic soybean market, together with inversion of international market priceenhance the risk of soybean growers and processors greatly. Furthermore, our soybean industrytakes a substantial hit and encounters a precarious situation. Our soybean industry finds pressurefrom both domestic and overseas field and it is hardly optimistic when considered food safetyissues. This thesis, using methodology of data analysis, focused on the influence of importedsoybeans to China soybean industrial chain from each link. First off, we elaborated the generalcondition of imported soybean from the aspect of quantitative analysis, market analysis and consumption to explain the reason why imported soybeans had been sharply increased anddominate the China market. After that, by combining the definition of industrial chain andagricultural industrial chain, we gave our definition of soybean industrial chain. Meanwhile, overall situation and existed problems of China soybean industrial chain had been analyzed. Thenwe took a further step on studying how and what imported soybeans impacted each segment ofChina soybean industrial chain. Finally the policy and suggestions on perfecting our soybeanindustrial chain, invigorating our soybean industry and ensuring our industry to developunceasingly, healthily and fleetly had been proposed from every link, based on our currentsituation. |
