According to human capital theory, health human capital and education human capital are two important branches of human capital. So far, although there already have a large number of scholars who have studied the effect of human capital on farmers’ non-agricultural employment, most scholars based on education human capital while ignoring the health human capital. Therefore, this article will be based on the perspective of health human capital, researching the health human capital of farmers’ non-agricultural employment and the influence of non-agricultural income. Based on the method of Self-evaluation of health, comprehensively considering farmer’s age, educational background and personal living habit, using questionnaire, sampling survey in central China health human capital status quo of farmers and non-agricultural employment. Using collected data, establishing Binary Logistic Regression model from the three aspects of health human capital and farmers’ non-agricultural employment relationship. First of all, studying whether the impact on farmers’ non-agricultural employment from health human capital is significant or not; Secondly, studying whether the effect on non-farm income from health human capital is significant or not; Finally, finding out the factors which effect the farmers’health human capital.Research shows that health human capital, education human capital, technical ability training, marriage and gender has a significant positive impact on farmers’ non-agricultural employment and non-agricultural income, and health human capital has more important impact on them. Because the higher of health human capital of farmer has a higher probability to choose non-agricultural employment, gets more chance for him to choose, and also has the longer employment period; according to those factors which affect health human capital, which affect the peasants health human capital, including education human capital and regular physical examination have a significant positive influence on health human capital, however, non-agricultural income has a significant but relatively weak influence on farmers’ health human capital, the influence of the age, chronic diseases have an obvious negative impact on farmers health human capital, especially chronic diseases which is the most negative factor on farmers’ health human capital. Based on the above research conclusion, this paper puts forward on several policy suggestions:first, consummate the medical system, in order to improve the rural medical conditions; Second, carry out the health lecture, to help farmers’ health to raise the knowledge of human capital; Third, carry out the medical consultation system, to provide guidance to the countryside farmers to solve health problems; Fourth, improve the rural health care infrastructure, to improve the level of rural health; Fifth, complete the propaganda, to help farmers develop good life habits. From the above five aspects which can improve farmers health human capital, promote farmers’ non-agricultural employment ability, increasing peasants income, improve farmers’ living standards, and promote rural development at last. |
