Planning Urban Mixed-use

Mixed use of land functions is an important development strategy in recent years which isbeing researched and popularized in the urban planning and construction field at home andabroad. The successful experience in a number of cities has proved that, the implementationof mixed use of land functions will help improve the efficiency of land intensive use, helppromote industry transformation and upgrading, and help reduce rigid traffic demand,improve the quality of urban connotations which is an important way to create and maintainthe vitality and attraction of the city and an crucial strategy to ensure sustainable urbandevelopment.Due to the so detailed land use classification in the current Building Department andMinistry of Territories, implementation of urban mixed function and development of hybridform are restricted. Under such a background, this article analyzed the problems and reasonsof Jinan urban mixed land use planning in a new public management perspective and drew onideas and practices that was used by advanced cities to solve this problem. With regard tolocation of land, function composition, mixed mode of urban mixed land, we summarizes thegeneral rule, the principle of function composition, applicability of mixed mode with the clueof urban mixed land use planning. Moreover, we explored the laws of mixed land use patternsand planning on the basis of theoretical analysis and suggested that the method of location ofland, function composition, mixed mode of urban mixed land can be used in urbanmanagement.There are six chapters in the article. The first chapter is an introduction which describesbackground, purpose and methods and other relevant things in the research. The secondchapter is something about theoretical basis which focuses on the theory of urban mixed landuse, characteristics and public goods supply. Chapters3to6are the main part of the paper.The third chapter highlights the problems and its reasons of urban mixed land use planning inour country; the fourth chapter analyzes the problems and its reasons of urban mixed land useplanning in Jinan City and the reasons for the mixed land use planning. The fifth chapterdescribes the experience; the fifth chapter introduce the experience and enlightenment ofurban mixed land use planning at home and abroad. The last sixth chapter puts forward somecountermeasures to perfect urban mixed land use planning.
