The Research On Channel Efficiency Of Cooperative Economic Organizations In The Circulation Of Agricultural Products

Facing the complex and severe economic situation at home and abroad, China’sfurther development of agriculture will face more uncertainties. Continuouslyimproving the efficiency of the market circulation of agricultural products is animportant measure of the Central Document to ensure adequate supplies ofagricultural products. However, the current circulation of agricultural products inChina has many problems, including high circulation cost and low efficiency ofcirculation. All the problems in the final analysis are the contradiction between thesmall and scattered smallholder production and modernization of a large circulation.As an important organizational form of the modern agricultural productdistribution channels, circulation cooperative economic organization has manyexcellent properties, playing a unique role in improving the efficiency of agriculturalproducts circulation channels. Therefore, the paper focuses on the circulationcooperative economic organizations, by using of relevant theory, especially channelsbehavior theory to analyze the mechanism of the cooperative economic organizationsin the agricultural product distribution channels. We draw these following conclusions:the existence of circulation cooperative economic organization in the circulation ofagricultural products market is the result of the pursuit of market efficiency, theinevitable result of market game in agricultural market, but also the inevitable choiceof balancing channel power structure. Through analysis of reasons for developedcountries which have high circulation channel efficiency, and then comparing thecurrent situation in China, some factors restricting circulation cooperative economicorganization efficiency are draw. The comparative analysis of the results shows that,some important obstacles restricting the efficiency of circulation cooperativeeconomic organizations are the low level of its organizational level, the low level ofcirculation technology, and the imperfect internal systems etc. To further test thetheory, the paper uses data envelopment analysis to study the relative efficiency of thethree main distribution channels in Yancheng city. The analysis shows that the channelefficiency of the circulation cooperative economic organizations is relatively higherthan other channels. On the basis of above conclusions, the paper has put forward asome policy recommendations for relevant departments, for example, cultivating thecirculation cooperative economic organizations, expanding the service areas ofcirculation cooperative economic organizations, and promoting internal system construction of the circulation cooperative economic organizations etc.The innovation of this paper is mainly reflected into two aspects. In selecting thetopics, this study further enriched the theory of cooperative economic organizations.In the theoretical analysis, this article breaks through the restrictions of a singleframework, from the two dimensions of the economic and behavioral analysis toanalyze the inevitability of the circulation cooperative economic organizations.However, in most parts of China, the circulation cooperative economic organizationshaven’t fully played its functions, and its role in improving the channel efficiency isnot significant. With the development of modern circulation, however, circulationcooperative economic organizations will play a more and more important role in thecirculation of agricultural products.
