This paper researches seven boroughs of Dazhou city (Sichuan, China). Onthe basis of previous research and the collections of arable land’s ecological, economic and social data, statistical yearbook and statistical bulletin of research areas, this paper establishes the evaluate index system according to the actual situation ofDazhou city, and then introduces the Neural Network, widely used in biology field, into the benefits of arable land evaluation. The evaluation index as input layer, benefits of cultivated land as output layer, this study tries to analyze and evaluate thebenefits of the arable land in Dazhou by using BP artificial neural network on theplatform of NeuroSolutions software. According to the evaluation results, the spatialdifference analysis is done and displayed on the administrative map by using thebenefits index values of each time node during the whole evaluation period as thecriteria for the division in GIS software. Meantime, using hierarchical cluster analysismodule in SPSS software, the land comprehensive benefits overall distribution level isfinally revealed in the study area. The driving factors of land benefits distribution ineach borough are studied by doing SPSS factor analysis on the use of measured data.Research results show that, after verification of grey hierarchy evaluation method,BP artificial neural network is suitable for the benefit evaluation of arable land, andthe land comprehensive benefits of all the seven boroughs in Dazhou althoughfluctuates, but entirely shows a rising trend during2001-2011. Arable land benefitsshow different characteristics in the local measuring range. Arable land economic andsocial benefits of arable land in each borough fluctuate a lot, while their ecologicalbenefits keep a stable slightly rising trend. During the study period, on the point view of overall arable land benefits distribution, the comprehensive efficiency of Xuanhancounty, Da county, Kaijiang county and Dazhou county obtain high efficiency, andWanyuan city, Tongchuan district moderate efficiency, while low efficiency in Qucounty. The driving factors, mainly affect arable land ecological efficiency, areEnvironmental Quality Index, The Rate of Efficient Irrigation, Hanlaobaoshou Index,Cultivated Land Load Capacity. In contrast, the factors regarding economic efficiencyare Land Productivity,Labor Productivity, Grain Yield per Unit Area, Labor Input perUnit Area, Amount of Fertilizer per Unit Area and Fixed Assets Investment per UnitArea. In addition, factors regard to social efficiency are Degree of Social NeedsSatisfaction, per Capita Grain Yield and Net Income per Capita. In view of improving the benefits levels and promoting the coordinateddevelopment of three kinds of benefits, the following suggestions are proposed in thispaper according to the benefits levels and their spatial distribution of seven boroughs’arable land. Those high efficiency area, such as Xuanhan county, Da county, Kaijiangcounty and Dazhou county, should pay great attention to the protection of the arableland’s quantity and quality, and make use of their traditional advantageous agricultureto further improve cultivated land benefits and efficiency. The rest areas, under thegovernment macroeconomic regulation and control guidance, firstly try to strengthenthe construction of their agricultural infrastructure, and then inspire farmers’cultivating enthusiasm and popular agricultural technology. It is undeniable that thiscombination improves the comprehensive efficiency of cultivated land; reaches theorganic unification of ecological, economic and social benefits; and eventually hasaccess to a sustainable development of the agriculture and the whole society.
