A Study On Rural Roads Construction In Jingzhou City

With the development of China’s new countryside construction, theinfrastructure facilities construction in rural has achieved primary effects. As an importantpart of the rural infrastructure, rural highways have attained vigorous development as well.The rural road is the basis of national road network, and it’s an important link to connectthe urban and rural areas. The country road is the most important channel to contact withthe outside world for the vast countryside and town. Its smooth running is not only thebasis of production and life in the rural, but the foundation of the socio-economicdevelopment in rural areas. To vigorously develop the rural road construction is of greatsignificance for promoting China’s economic and social development in rural areas andkeeping economic development balance between urban and rural. And, it is also of greatimportant to improve the national road network structure. This paper takes the countryroad construction in Jingzhou City as the research object, analyzes the present situation ofJingzhou’s rural roads, poses the existing problems and proposes some suggestions topromote the countryside highway development in Jingzhou.This paper includes four parts. The First is the exordium, discussing the backgroundand significance of this study, summarizing the research at home and abroad on the ruralhighways, and proposing the contents and methods. The second part analyzes thecountryside road in Jingzhou City from four aspects: basic situation, road construction,maintenance and management, and the funds. Then, part III presents the problems existingin the road development. On the basis of the part II and III, the fourth part gives someadvices to improve the rural road development.This study shows that rural road construction in Jingzhou City has made greatachievement since2000. But there are some problems: poor quality, unreasonable roadstructure, lack of funds, inadequate maintenance, and unscientific road administration and so on. To promote the rural road construction in Jingzhou City, the governments at alllevels and relevant departments should actively explore the strategies in terms of thequality controlling, road structure, fund raising, maintenance and road management and soon.
