Yunnan Province borders with Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, neighboring the othersouthwest Asian6countries. Building an open economy in order to promoteing thedevelopment. Overall, the foreign economic openness in Yunnan Provice is nothigh.dependence on trade is only about10%, which does not match the locationadvantages, and our country’s dependence on foreign trade was50.1%at present.Since China’s accession to the WTO, foreign trade and FDI has becomeincreasingly integrated, the practice shows that FDI is becoming more and moreimportant in the position in Yunnan economy, now become an integral part of itseconomic, in particular, plays a particularly important role in China’s foreign trade.Is there any influenced in Yunnan’s foreign trade by the large scale attracting FDI?Does FDI contribute to the optimization of the trade structure? This is the mayorissue faced by the current policy formulation and practice of Yunnan Province andwill play an active role for our foreign policy.The thesis is based on the development status of foreign direct investment andforeign trade of Yunnan Province.Based on the foreign direct investment and traderelations between the theory and the latest research, and according to statistics ofYunnan Province in1990-2010years,making an empirical study on the relationshipbetween FDI and import-export growth, trade structural optimization by the relevantstatistical knowledge. Finally,the paper proposes some constructive policy in order topromote import-export and optimize the structure of export trade. The governmentshould take some necessary measures to attract foreign investment, and optimize theenvironment to seize the opportunity to expand the market and explore the potentialpillar industries.
