Inventory management is an important part in business management.It not only takes huge effect to floating capital turnover of the enterprise,but also plans an important role in meeting customers’ requirement. Dueto the high proportion in inventory of enterprise, material inventoryattracts wide attention from science and industry field. Management levelof material inventory affects the enterprise significantly. It makes sense tocomprehensive cost of enterprises in supply chain and whole performanceof supply chain. The mission of material inventory management is tomeet the material requirement and reduce material inventory cost tobalance the material supply and inventory level. Recently, the birth andreasonable application of diverse inventory management strategies offeran effective approach to improve inventory management level forcompany.This thesis is to study diverse management strategies for materialinventory and effective application of these strategies through tracing asix sigma project for management optimization to material inventory inSuzhou site of Company H. Company H, as a multi-national corporation, is a leader on diversified technology and manufacturing in the world.Suzhou site of Company H is the second largest producer of diverse kindsof scanner in the world. In these years, due to business expanding andcustomization of need, the production category increase gradually.Traditional model of inventory management can’t meet the requirementof company operation. In this paper, author states basic principle ofinventory an inventory management, introduces diverse managementstrategies for material inventory, and presents six sigma principle and tool.Based on these principles, author analyzes current issues in materialinventory management of company H, validates the root cause ofchallenges on material management using ANOVA, brings forward somecountermeasures based on analysis, and takes some actions includingstandardization and SPC to solidify improvement. In the end of thesis,author summarizes the study, lists some shortcoming of the thesis andgives a prospect of further study.
