Research On The Evaluation And Operation Strategy The Shenzhen LED Patent Pool

As part of the most-promising leading electronics industry in the world, LEDbusiness line extends and develops quickly worldwide. Due to starting late, LED industryof China lags greatly behind of some foreign countries’ in the upstream and midstreamtechnologies, LED companies in China are mainly middle or small ones with limited scalecurrently.LED industry in Shenzhen concentrates its technologies of advantage to build theShenzhen LED Standards Alliance and Shenzhen LED patent Pool, which will make apromotion on the standards of the Alliance. Based on LED Industry Standard Alliance, thispatent pool collects the superior technologies of the alliance, enhancing the publication ofthe standard. Besides, the building of them will give helps to the SMEs in areas oftechnology cost, lawsuit risk and so on. It will have a theoretical and practical significancein exploring the promotionof the healthydeveloping road inChina’s LED industry.This thesis is going to evaluate the operation of Shenzhen LED Patent Pooltechnologically and give suggestions to the Shenzhen LED Patent Pool in its futureoperation to finish its goal of being an exemplary role in the industry and amongenterprises and expending its industrial advantages. The basic introduction of theShenzhen LED Patent Pool in this thesis includes the reasons why the pool wasestablished, the operation of the pool, etc. The evaluation goes from four aspects: one isthe evaluation of the basic information of patent categories, patent authorization rate, thedistribution of industry chain and so on; the second is the patent relationship evaluation,which will proceed by classifying patents into two kinds, the core patents and the ordinaryones; the third one is the evaluation of the time sequences, which is mainly about the studyon technology life cycle; the last one is the evaluation of the directions of technologydevelopment of the patent pool, which is based on the technical classification. Afterevaluation, it gives suggestions not only on the technological development by the resultsof the evaluation, but also on patent pool management in areas of the industry chain, corepatent, management structure, and development orientation. What’s more, some memberenterprises of Shenzhen LED Patent Pool make their suggestions to the patent pool and related government authorities, which will be represented in this thesis. We hope that thedifficulties and needs of the member enterprises can arouse the attention of the ShenzhenPatent Pool and related authorities.
