Study On The Relationship Between Industrial Structure Upgrading And Urban Land Intensive Use: A Case Of Wuhan City

The relationship between urban land utilization and urban economic development ismainly reflected on their relationship of urban land utilization and urban GDP from themacro point of view, and then look from the meso level, their relationship is mainlyrefelected on the revelance between urban land use and urban industrial structure. Theadjustment of city industrial structure is bound to cause the adjustment of land usestructure and the change of the way in urban land use. The research between urbanindustrial structure and land use intensive degree can reveal the influence on urbanindustrial structure which be brought by urban land use in different types, different areaand different period, providing a reference for the formulation of regional developmentstrategies, and it has a positive practical significance on a promotion coordinated regionaleconomic stability and rapid development.This article takes Wuhan city for example, the method of combination of theoreticalanalysis and empirical analysis is used. By introducing the concept of the industrialstructure upgrading, the relationship between industrial structure upgrading and urban landintensive use is studied. First, expounded the meanings of industrial structure upgradingand land intensive use. Then from the theoretical level, analysis of the relationshipbetween industrial structure upgrading and urban land intensive use. On the basic oftheoretical studies, combine with the industrial structure and land use condition of WuhanCity, measure the industrial structure coefficient and Land Use Intensity based on the datafrom1991to2010, method of impulse response function and variance decompositionbased on VAR model is employed to study the response path and extent of them. Theresults show that strong positive interaction response function exists between industrialstructure upgrading and urban land intensive use, and its long-term response degree ismore significant and stable. The response of industrial structure upgrading to urban landintensive use impulse is remarkable, while the response of urban land intensive use toindustrial structure upgrading impulse isn’t remarkable.And both of them are influencedby their own fluctuation. Finally, according to the theoretical and empirical analysis results,combined with the actual situation of Wuhan City, put forward countermeasures andsuggestions to promote positive interaction of the industrial structure and land use.
