The China’s "12th Five-Year" national planning clearly pointed out that it isnecessary to take the promotion of the services sector development as a strategicfocus of the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure, and accelerate thetransformation of economic development mode. Active planning and promotion ofinternational service trade is meaningful to cultivate new growth point of the importand export trade, optimize the structure of foreign trade, transform trade growthmethods and improve China’s international competitiveness. Therefore, it has greatsignificance to analyze the status and its influences of the competitiveness of Chineseservice trade.According to the data of statistic yearbook of Chinese service trade, we couldknow that the import-export volumes of service trade at the world’s main countriesrepresented by Europe, America and Japan accounts for over half of that of theworld’s. Those countries must have great strengths in developing its service industry. Is there any reference to the development of Chinese service trade? With thecomparative analysis object of major countries in the world, this paper will deeplydiscuss the development level of the service trade competitiveness and its influencingfactors of China.First of all, this paper summarizes the theoretical basis and the research statusquo of service trade competitiveness at home and abroad, and it gives a brief reviewof the research status at home and abroad. Secondly, we get to know the true level ofChinese service trade’s international competitiveness and its structural differencethrough the comparative analysis of the present situation, TC index, RCA index andEMS index from service trade departments of China and the rest world’s maincountries. Again, based on panel data of10countries, this paper makes an empiricalanalysis on the service trade international competitiveness by using the method oftheory combined with empirical analysis under the basis of porter’s competitiveadvantage theory. The results show that compared with the world’s major countries, the development level of service sector and human capital have significant effects onChina’s service trade’s competitiveness, but its effects on China’s service tradecompetitiveness are still very limited, relative to other countries, its influencecoefficient is small; the market openness of service trade and foreign directinvestment have significant effects on the competitiveness of Chinese service trade, nevertheless the development level of trade in goods was not significant to thecompetitiveness of Chinese service trade. Finally, based on the results of the empiricalanalysis, this paper suggests that we should strengthen exchanges and cooperationwith countries such as Europe and the United States, make a personnel training planadapting to the characteristics of China’s service industry, gradually let go of somestate-owned monopoly services and so on.
