In the context of global economy increasingly interconnected, one country mustchoose to open up to the outside world to achieve sustained and rapid economicdevelopment. The study of area opening up to the outside world and the relationshipbetween opening up and economic growth is of great significance for regionaleconomic development. In recent years, Xinjiang has gradually formed all-round,multi-level and wide-ranging opening pattern that along the border, the EurasianContinental Bridge and the transportation routes. However, what is the actual degreeof openness in Xinjiang and how it affects Xinjiang’s economic development. Thispaper mainly study the relationship between the degree of opening to the outsideworld and economic development in Xinjiang from the above two perspectives.Based on the analysis of development condition of opening up like foreign trade,FDI and tourism service trade, this paper gives systematic analysis on the influencingfactors of Xinjiang’s opening up to the outside world. Then, by choosing dependenceindex on foreign trade, FDI and tourism service trade, the paper constructs the indexsystem to measure the degree of opening to the outside world in Xinjiang throughprincipal component analysis. Finally, this paper builds the evaluation model of therelationship between economic growth and the degree of opening up to the outsideworld in Xinjiang, then empirical studies of the relationship between the degree ofopening up and economic growth in Xinjiang. The results show that: the geopoliticalfactors, resource factors, economic factors and policy factors combined affectXinjiang’s opening up to the outside world. Compared the national level measurementof the degree of opening up to the outside world with Xinjiang, Xinjiang’s degree ofopening to the outside world is still in the lower level. The empirical analysis of theresults showed that the degree of opening up to the outside world in Xinjiang has apositive impact on economic growth, but economic growth pulling effect is not large,and Xinjiang’s degree of opening to the outside world to be further improved. Finally,on the basis of these studies, this paper gives relevant advice on promoting economicgrowth through further expanded degree of opening up to the outside world.
