The SWOT And Scale Strength Analysis Of Marine Fishery Of Shandong Peninsula

Shandong Province with tremendous oceanic development potential hasadvantage in oceanic resources,which enables oceanic economy to be a economicgrowth point.At the same time,marine fishery economy plays a pivotal role in marineeconomy in Shandong Province,so the development of marine fishery will determinethe development of oceanic economy to a great point.Therefore,analyzing the scalestrength of marine fishery of Shandong Peninsula to gain an insight into it anddetermine the development direction is necessary to make marine fishery develophealthily and sustainably.After introducing the current situation of marine fishery of Shandong Peninsulaspecifically,this paper analyses the strength、weakness、opputunity and threat ofmarine fishery qualitively by SWOT model.The author finds that the economicaggregate of marine fishery has been in the first place in recent years and the marinefishery which has distinct advantages of resources and area is supported by nationalpolity.But within the development of marine fishery,it has also accumulated manyproblems of environment and resources such as the deterioration of the ecologicalenvironment、polluted sea area、simple breeding varieties and decreased carryingcapacities of resources caused by fishing disorder and so on,which can limit its furtherdevelopment to a great degree.Additionally,this paper analyses the scale strength offive coastal provinces including Liaoning、 Shandong、 Jiangsu、 Zhejiang andGuangdong quantitatively by principal component and cluster analysis.The authorfinds that Shandong Province has the highest average score indicating the strongeststrength. Shandong Province has distinct advantage among different provincesjudging from the present situation.Nevertheless,in the future development of marinefishery,Shandong Province should place emphasis on the mariculture whichunderperforms other provinces.Finally,this paper provides a series of proposals to increase the application offishery science and technology,improve ecological environment,and optimize fisherystructure according to SWOT analysis and principal component and clusteranalysis,by which we can achieve the healthy and sustainable development of marine fishery economy of Shandong Peninsula.
