Harbin’s Characteristics Of Urbanization And Its Dynaihic Analysis Since1978

Since1978, with the changes of regional development’s macroeconomic background andits own conditions, Harbin’s urbanization has gradually turned into the healthy and rapiddevelopment period. Especially since1990s, the large-scale construction of its OpenEconomic Zone， the resulting series of infrastructures’ supporting construction and theproduced agglomeration effect accelerated Harbin’s urbanization successively. However,since the beginning of the opening up policy, our national economy was shifted to the coastalareas, which made Harbin be away from the center of China’s economic development and alsoweakened the external power of this city, but it strengthened its endogenous impetus of thecity. Meanwhile, the proportion of industrial development in Harbin’s urbanization motivepower declined, but the urban services developed relatively fast, all these made Harbin in anew stage of urbanization development power’s conversion, and thus brought about a seriesof new characteristics of urbanization. Therefore, in order to study the urbanization motivepower of Harbin, it is necessary to probe into the dynamic mechanism of of Harbin’surbanization over the past30years, to identify the influencing factors and the existingproblems in the process of urbanization, to explore the direction of urbanization developmentand countermeasures of promoting the rapid development of urbanization, thus to providetheoretical support and practical guide for economic development of Harbin. This paperattempts to begin its analysis from this perspective, uses the past30years’ level ofurbanization development as the main line, based on accurately grasping the annals andliteratures, correlation theory and research methods, make its own attempt on the analysis ofthe impact of the various stages of its dynamic factors.This thesis consists of three parts:In the first part, the thesis defined the concept and connotation of cities, urbanization andthe dynamic mechanism of urbanization, and then introduced some theories which are relatedto the dynamic mechanism of urbanization, thereby connected to the empirical part whichhappens later and combined theoretical research and empirical analysis.In the second part, the thesis estimated the level of urbanization by using the proportionof non-agricultural population since1978, analyzed urbanization characteristics of Harbin’sthree different scales from the whole city, urban district and county, and pointed out theexisting problems in the development of urbanization.In the third part, the thesis determined the comprehensive indicators that can affect thecity’s development impetus, specified he motivating factor which affects Harbin’s threedifferent scales from the whole city, urban district and county by the use of gray relativeanalysis method, and analyzed the background factors and the development proposals.
