At the beginning of twenty-first Century, the reform of China’s electric power system and the state-owned assets supervision and administration system has brought new challenges to the electric power industry. If large power enterprises want to survive and develop in the new challenges and competition, to strengthen their own management is the key. Management is inseparable from the examination, and in the new situation, the organization performance evaluation for large-scale power generation enterprises also ushered in new changes. Power generation enterprises performance evaluation is based on specific indicators and standards. It is the use of scientific, standardized, comprehensive and objective assessment of the enterprise production and management behavior and results in a certain period. Scientific performance evaluation of power generation enterprise production and business operation activities have the effect of positive guidance. It can make the enterprise management status and development trend of the comprehensive evaluation of itself. It will help the enterprises to establish and improve the constraints and incentives for efficient allocation of limited resources. It can improve the management level and competitiveness of enterprises too. Scientific and effective power generation enterprise performance evaluation system is a grave and real issues which China Electricity reform process is facing.Firstly, the paper put forward to study the organization performance evaluation based on the benchmarking theory. Secondly, by analyzing the current situation of large power generation enterprise performance evaluation, the paper puts forward the existing problems and the urgent needs. Thirdly, the article constructs a performance evaluation system based on the evaluation index, the pretreatment, index weight determination as well as benchmarking theory. Finally, this paper carry out a comprehensive evaluation for the organizational performance of five large power generation companies which is based on different evaluation methods.
