The United States is most developed country is the world, while China is the largestand fastest-growing developing country, the two countries promote each other andinterdependent in economy. However, the asymmetry of the status of bilateral trade hasaffected the normal bilateral trade relations. So, it is very important to explore theperformance of the asymmetry of the Sino-US trade and the reasons that leading toasymmetry. Also, we can understand our own position and develop appropriate policies. The combination of theory and practice is used in this paper, linking with TheInterdependence Theory in International Political Economy and Sino-US trade relationsand using the two core concepts of Interdependence Theory: sensitivity and vulnerabilityas the starting point, Combined with theoretical knowledge of international trade andSino-US trade data in recent years, researching and analyzing of its impact and proposingsolutions at the perspective of China. The paper first describes the concept of interdependence theory and the basic content, the basic view, and defines the concept of the Sino-US trade asymmetry in this article, distinct the asymmetry of the Sino-US trade and Sino-US trade balance. The evaluationof the sensitivity and vulnerability was determined by using the knowledge ofinternational trade. The evaluations of sensitivity include Trade-scale, trade dependenceand trade structure, while the vulnerability includes import market substitutability exportmarket substitutability. The analysis shows that comparing with the US, China was in theasymmetric position in trade size, trade dependence and trade structure of the field insensitivity, so China’s sensitivity is greater than the United States. China’s import marketsubstitutability as well as the substitutability areas of export markets was also in theasymmetric position relative to the US in vulnerability, China’s vulnerability also largerthan the US. It is conclude that compared with The United States China was at adisadvantage, the former on the latter have the advantage of some asymmetric in Sino-UStrade relations. For the above analysis, the proposed measures to solve the current situation were putforward, these measures include speeding up the upgrade of the domestic industrialstructure, optimizing the commodity structure of exports to the U.S.; insisting on theimplementation of the strategy of expanding domestic demand and the development ofnew markets.
