Our country,China starts lately to compete with the world in the field of trade inservice, but has made great achievements since the reform and opening up. Relyingon the advantages of rich tourism resources and cultural heritage, the internationaltourism competitiveness of China continues to be strengthened. Shanghai, as thebiggest economic center of China, can be said as the show window of foreignunderstanding China, although it has been leading in China in the tourism trade, thereis still a gap with other metropolitan cities of the world, so it is crucial to develop itstourist trade. Hong Kong is a world-renowned tourist destination. With the increasedeconomic and cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and the Mainland, how to seekcooperation and win-win by using the features of the development of tourist trade inservices in Shanghai and Hong Kong is the purpose of this study.This paper focuses on analyzing the applicability of the theory of comparativeadvantage and competitive advantage in the tourism trade services, and comparing thedevelopment of the whole tourism service trade in Shanghai and Hong Kong, findsthat there is a large gap between Shanghai and Hong Kong in the scale of the tourismservices trade development. Then through the calculation of competitivenessindicators we find the difference between them in trade competitiveness anddevelopment trends. Furthermore, this paper analyzes both cities’ affecting factors bycombining with the Porter’s competitive advantage theory to explain the differencebetween Shanghai and Hong Kong in trade competitiveness. Then as with Shanghaias the object of study,by doing an empirical test and selecting the professional levelof the hotel management, the labor productivity of tourism, the number of employeesof the industry travel and retail and catering investment in fixed assets, as influencingfactors for analysis, draws that influencing between the first three factors and the tradeexport is obvious, but the role of retail and catering investment in fixed assets topromoting export need to be strengthened. The innovation of this paper is:(1) withthe two city comparative perspective to explain the competitiveness of tourism servicetrade.(2) Putting forward that Hong Kong has competitive disadvantage under themeasure of relative competitiveness index, but we cannot deny Hong Kong is amature tourism destination, and Shanghai has competitive advantage under themeasure of relative competitiveness index, the development of tourism industry is notmature.(3) Explaining because the development of influencing Factors in Hong Kongare better than Shanghai in many aspects, Shanghai needs tourism cooperation withHong Kong to promote trade competitiveness, and for Hong Kong, the Shanghaitourism service trade development to a certain extent in their own development,therefore the tourism cooperation reality exists.
