Black shrimp, which is also known as river shrimp, is an important freshwater aquaculture shrimp. Black shrimp industry, has started in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and expanded since the mid-1960s. It has become an important way of increasing farmers’ income, and improving the efficiency of agriculture. The degradation of varieties becomes obstacles to the further development of black shrimp industry. A new black shrimp variety cultivated by the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center of Chinese Academy of Fishery Science, which is called-Hybrid black shrimp "Taihu No.1".It successfully solved this problem. Taihu No.1black shrimp since its inception in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai, has developed industrial propagation, but the survey found that the farmers actual adoption rate was not high, most farmers still chosed self-breeding varieties of black shrimp, the agricultural technology did not play the expected role of, increasing efficiency, and farmers’ income in agricultural production.Meeting the demand for farmers, but the adoption rate of the new variety is low,which is one of the problems faced by the agricultural technology promotion. Farmers are terminal audiences of agricultural technology, their production decisions in agricultural technology have great effect on agricultural technological achievements into the effectiveness. Therefore, to study technology adoption behavior of farmers, and to explore the determinants of farmers’ household technology adoption behavior has important significance in increasing the agricultural technology adoption rate.By analyzing the data obtained through the main producing areas of Jiangsu Province, black shrimp survey of466black shrimp farmers, this paper firstly analyzing the difference in farmers’ adoption behavior under different characteristics Then, using binary logistic model, this paper does an empirical analysis of factors affecting technology adoption behavior of new varieties, the following are main conclusions.Firstly, farmers household’selection in new variety of black shrimp had strong externalities. Farmers endowments has no significant effect on their technology adoption of new varieties of behavior.Secondly, information factors have a significant impact on technology adoption behavior of new varieties of farmers. Technical training, industry organizations are important sources of farmers agricultural technology information. The more frequently the farmers participate in technical trainings, the greater the probability of its adoption of new varieties.Thirdly, the government’s policy factor has a significant impact on farmers’ adoption behavior of new variety. Our current agricultural technological innovation diffusion model is determined, in the case of imperfect market mechanisms, the Government has to play an important role in the promotion of agricultural technology, the farmers who are able to get government subsidies, are more likely to adopt the new variety.Fourthly, farmers’ evaluation of new varieties has significant influence on the adoption behavior of new variety. Farmers focused on the advantage of the new variety in the growth characteristics, they pursuit the increase of production. The farmers who think the new variety has a growth advantage, have a higher adoption probability of new varieties; the farmers’ evaluation of technical difficulty of new varieties and their adoption of new varieties have a negative correlation.Fifthly, farmers’ technology adoption behaviors of new variety in different areas have differences. Because of the farming history of black shrimp, aquaculture structure and other reasons, the adoption behaviors of new varieties of farmers in Yangzhou, Wuxi exist significant differences there is no significant differences in the behaviors of farmers in Nanjing, Changzhou and Wuxi.Finally, this paper raises some policy suggestions to promote new varieties of black shrimp.
