Tourist activity does not only brings people pleasure but also promotes thedevelopment of economy, which is an industrialized, diversified and global trend.Busy working people look forward to the casual life brought by traveling, thus the hotspring tourism has become one of the important ways for people to spend theirholidays. The main reason for the popularity of hot spring tourism is its scarcity anduniqueness. So, the study and protection of hot spring tourism are undoubtedly ofscientific importance. On the basis of literature review, this paper is intended to discuss the conceptand cause of hot springs, the resource and classification of hot springs, the contentand the scientific principle of it. With the application of location theory&experiencing marketing theory, this paper analyzed and summarized the uniqueculture, destination, marketing and the concept of environment protection of the hotspring tourism. When analyzing of the221hot springs in Japan as samples, This paper havesummarized the geographic distribution and culture features of them. With theresearch of the2013Top10hot springs in Japan,I have learned the unique culturefeatures of Japan hot spring tourism: religion, catering and scenery culture. I havechosen the seven important hot springs in Japan and then studied their layout andplanning, and summarize the four layout patterns of hot spring destinations in Japan.Though there are various ways of promoting and marketing of hot springs, this paperclassify them into seven patterns. We should deeply think about the great attentionpaid to the tourism by the Japan government. In the year1948, the Japan’sgovernment issued the Hot Spring Act to revitalize the economy of Japan bydeveloping the hot spring tourism. In2002, I studied in Kyoto and thus I haveexperienced the hot spring culture. With the guidance of my mentor, I enjoyed thehot spring bath in a hot spring hotel. In2007, I visited Fukuoka and Kyushu and had aclose touch with Japanese hot springs when I lived in the Nan Feng Lou hot springhotel. Every notable feature of hot springs in Japan has left me a deep impression. So I am looking forward to every opportunity to have a detailed study about Japanesehot springs. Fortunately, this paper has realized my dream. I hope the experience ofJapanese hot spring tourism written in this paper can provide some value to thedevelopment of our country’s hot spring tourism.
