Research On Beijing Population Carrying Capacity Under The Resource Constraints

In order to actively respond to the new challenges of global climate changes andenvironmental resource constraints, fully practice green development and beautifulChina concept, and promote coordinated development of population, resources,environment, economics, society as well as ecology in Beijing, this paper servestheory of sustainable development as the guiding ideology, mainly focuses on thestatus, measures and countermeasures of carrying capacity, doing comprehensivesurvey and making systematic research on the population carrying capacity in Beijing.In aspect of theoretical research, this paper focuses on new concepts which fullyexamine and comprehensively analyze the carrying capacity. First, DescriptiveStatistics and Comparative Analysis methods were analyzed on Population andResources. Secondly, combing qualitative with quantitative analysis, selecting11indicators in four areas-natural resources, economic resources, social resources,environmental resources, using Possibility-Satisfiability to estimates the current and2020population carrying capacity in Beijing. Finally, summarizing the path andpractice on improving the bearing capacity in developed countries and cities,combining with the calculation results and the actual situation in Beijing, we get someenlightenment.With respect to empiric analysis, it makes basic judgment on the developmentstatus of carrying capacity: the size of the population continues to increase, thestructure tends to aging; either at in current or2020, natural resource constrain on thepopulation is very obvious, the rapid economic development can carry more people ina short time, social resources is the of more stable development factors in Beijing;Water is the largest short board of the population carrying capacity; the supply anddemand of land for construction are tight；serious traffic congestion, but to encouragepeople to take public transport trips, there is great potential to be tapped; and so on.This paper proposes to start with "relieving carrying pressure" and "enhancingcarrying capacity" to explore an effective way to improve population carryingcapacity in Beijing.
